On Novermber 9, 1988, the ACSA was founded as a not-for-profit organization under the province’s new Societies Act. Its first instructional courses – WHMIS Train-the-trainer, Safety Basics, and Safety Basics Audit – commenced in 1989 in Edmonton. At the time, the ACSA had just three employees.
Throughout the past three decades, the ACSA has grown to a staff of almost 70 and now offers over 30 safety training courses across the province. We administer over 5,000 COR certifications and have built a community of 15,000 NCSOs and HSAs. More details on what the ACSA has achieved are available at our special 30th Anniversary webpage.
Over the coming months, we plan to not just consider our accomplishments of the past, but to look to the future as we build on what has been achieved to ensure safer workplaces for the next generation. We will be providing you opportunities to participate in events and special offers in recognition of our 30th anniversary.
