Bill 30 and You

Your ACSA has established a special webpage to keep our stakeholders informed about the Government of Alberta’s proposed changes to the OHS Act. We will be keeping the webpage updated because we want to provide you with the easiest access to all the information you need to make the transition. Your single source for Bill 30 information and updates is here. We suggest you bookmark the webpage and refer back to it regularly. We will notify you of updates to the webpage through our social accounts on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

As you have probably already learned, the changes are based on three worker rights:

  • The right to refuse unsafe work protects workers from any form of reprisal for exercising this right, including loss of compensation or benefits.
  • The right to know ensures workers are informed about potential hazards and have access to basic health and safety information in the workplace.
  • The right to participate ensures workers are involved in health and safety discussions, including participation in health and safety committees.

We are currently working to understand the implications of the legislation and what we can do to support our stakeholders through the transition. Your ACSA intends to host stakeholder consultations to determine how we can best support you as these changes come into effect.
