Matthew Nasby

COR Manager

My career in safety stretches over 16 years across various industry sectors in Canada and the United States, including warehouse / distribution, industrial construction, petroleum, manufacturing, and transportation. I have been the Safety Advisor on large industrial construction projects and turnarounds, and in high-risk work involving confined spaces and towers. Also, in corporate managerial roles I have been directly responsible for overall safety & environmental compliance, training, auditing, data analytics, process improvement, claims, and safety program policy development. My education and training include a Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and a Certificate in HR Management from the University of Alberta, and I have attained the NCSO, Gold Seal, CRSP, and CSP safety designations. In 2016, I was a member of the examination development panel with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals for the Safety Management Specialist certification.

COR Quality Assurance Team Lead

I have been with the ACSA since 2015. My health and safety experience spans 19 years, and includes retail, construction, hospitality and manufacturing industries. I’ve earned the National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate, and the Certificate in Tribunal Administrative Justice (CTAJTM). I am currently working towards the Certified Health and Safety Consultant designation through the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers. I love architecture, especially Frank Lloyd Wright, so in my spare time I love travelling to old cities with mid-century architecture.

Amanda Haunn

Senior COR Audit Review Analyst

My time with the ACSA started in 2007, and through the years I have worked in a variety of departments. I have obtained the Health and Safety Administrator (HSA) designation, and completed the Supervisory Development Citation program. Currently, I am working towards my OH&S Certificate through the University of Alberta. I have been working with the COR department since 2011 and have been in the role of Audit Review Analyst since 2015. My favourite things in life are traveling (when I can) and spending time with my family which keeps me pretty busy. I enjoy being able to help and assist our members with their health and safety management systems and being able to help prevent someone from getting hurt through education.

I joined ACSA in July 2018.  My career in health and safety started in 2010 with Garda World, a security company.  I gained my safety experience in different industries including construction, security, and oil and gas. Throughout my safety career, I have held various safety positions such as OH&S manager, advisor, consultant and administrator.  I have earned the Health and Safety Administrator (HSA) and National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designations.  I am currently working towards achieving the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate.  What I love most about my contribution to the safety world is the impact I make on other peoples’ lives. In my free time, I love to read, watch movies, cook, listen to music, travel, and spend time with my friends and family.

COR Audit Review Analyst

I recently graduated from the OH&S Diploma program at NAIT. I chose a career in Occupational Health and Safety because my grandfather was fatally injured on a worksite and I never even had the chance to meet him.  My goal is to help prevent fatalities from occurring and ensure that families won’t have the same burden of losing a family member that my family had to endure. I was very fortunate to have been chosen by the ACSA to become a summer student for the Learning Services department. I am grateful for all the opportunities that were provided to me during my summer work term. It is a privilege to become a full-time member of the ACSA’s COR department as a COR Audit Review Analyst.

Gina Williams

COR Audit Review Analyst

I joined the ACSA’s COR Department in May 2016 after a varied career that included time as a primary teacher with the Edmonton Public School Board, a tradesperson, a health and safety advisor, and an occupational health and safety manager. As well as a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta, I earned the National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation. Currently, I am working towards the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate. My favourite part about being a safety practitioner is helping to ensure that workers get home safely. And I am an Oilers fanatic, so I love watching their games. I also enjoy a range of outdoor sports and watching local music talent at live shows throughout Edmonton.

COR Audit Review Analyst

I started working with the ACSA in November 2014 after working for five years as a road builder on a base crew. I loved building roads, but knew I wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of workers through occupational health and safety. I recently earned the National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation and have completed the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate from the University of Alberta (U of A). I am currently working towards achieving the OHS Diploma from the U of A and becoming a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP). As a health and safety practitioner, I am passionate about helping employers create positive changes within their health and safety management systems and in changing their corporate cultures. My goal is to make a profound difference in the lives of Alberta workers, especially vulnerable workers. I volunteer for committees with the Alberta Society of Health and Safety Professionals and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) Edmonton Chapter. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our daughter, and as well as traveling the world – I have a personal goal to visit 30 countries by the time I am 30!

I began working with the ACSA in 2014. I started my career here and have worked in various departments within the organization. I am currently working towards obtaining my Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate through the University of Alberta and the Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) designation. I enjoy working at the ACSA to help members in building their health and safety management systems. I love being able to assist our members in navigating changes within the industry and helping them implement successful health and safety programs. When I am not at work, I am spending time with my family and young son.

COR Audit Review Analyst

I began working at the ACSA in 2016. My experience in health and safety began over 15 years ago when I was an owner of a construction company. In 2008, I moved into the manufacturing industry and this is where my career as a safety professional began – overseeing the safety of over 50 workers in a large manufacturing facility. Over time I have earned my Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, Manufacturer Safety Officer (MSO) designation, National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, and the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate. I really enjoy helping companies create and maintain their safety programs through coaching and as well as providing resources to them. I’m a mom and an athlete, so I enjoy spending my time off with my family playing and coaching all kinds of sports including hockey, softball, baseball and basketball.

COR Audit Review Analyst

I began working with the ACSA in 2014 and have been involved in health and safety since 2010. With a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree, I spent a few years teaching students in all grades between kindergarten to grade 12.  It was during my time as a university student I began working as a Health and Safety Administrator.  I worked for a few large companies in various industries such as industrial pipeline mechanical and fabrication, and electrical and equipment rentals. As an HSE Administrator for these companies, I spent time both in the office and on-site. This is where my passion for health and safety began. Along with my B.Ed. degree, I have also obtained my Health & Safety Administrator (HSA) designation, and I am currently working towards gaining the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate and the Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) designation. I found my niche in educating people about health and safety, with a particular interest in the protection of younger workers on the jobsite. I enjoy coaching and working with our members to help them build and maintain their health and safety management systems and to achieve their goals of keeping their workforce safe and healthy. I love knowing that my work makes a difference in people’s lives. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, including my three young children.
