Position Title: Senior HSE Advisor

Location: Position based out of the Lloydminster, Alberta office with occasional on site support to project locations within the area.

Position Summary: This position will coordinate health, safety and environmental programs, processes and activities to assist the operations team in maintaining compliance; as well as mitigating and managing HSE and security-related risks. There is a strong emphasis on safety culture, HSE performance, and being part of solutions that makes us better.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the first point-of-contact for HSE and security inquiries and incidents.
  • Provides guidance to operation team members on HSE and security matters, and escalates inquiries, where appropriate.
  • Coordinates the implementation of HSE programs along with related processes, procedures and resources.
  • Coordinates HSE activities including but not limited to health and safety committee meetings and activities, incident investigation and resolution, emergency response procedures, training, return-to-work, compliance audits.
  • Maintains and assists with the creation of HSE documentations including but not limited to plans, processes, procedure.
  • Creates and maintains documentations including but not limited to instruction sheets, check lists, forms, training materials.
  • Participates in field inspections, job observations; HSE audits and other types of reviews for the purpose of monitoring compliance to HSE requirements and identifying risks. Provides findings about risks and suggestions for improvement.
  • Construct and develop safety plans, traffic management plans, etc.
  • Assists the Joint Health and Safety Committee Representative(s) with issues that may arise.
    Incident Investigation, Resolution & Reduction
  • Assists in the investigation and resolution of incidents including root-cause analysis and providing probable causes of incidents and recommendations for resolution.
  • Coordinates the implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
  • Assists in the identification and analysis of trends. Communicates observations and provides suggestions for incident reduction measures.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Certification in one or more of the following – Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, NCSO, CRSP or working towards designation. (Minimum NCSO is required)
  • Ability to conduct Pear to Pear COR Audits with ACSA.
  • Understanding of emergency management requirements.
  • Understanding of HSE regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills along with ability to coordinate multiple requirements (i.e. processes, activities, projects, emergency response procedures, etc.) simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills along with some ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Strong administrative skills along with ability to maintain and report accurate data.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Experience Required:5 years minimum experience in a Safety role with a preference related to experience in working on construction projects in the oil & gas industry. Strong industry knowledge is a must.
