Member Service Enhancements

In 2023, we updated our Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) resources, providing members with new templates and detailed information to meet COR/SECOR requirements.

We also upgraded the SECOR evaluation tool and held webinars to explain changes. Follow-ups with SECOR holders ensured they understood the updates and requirements

Our Projects

  • Online Proctoring: We launched online proctoring for the NCSO and NHSA designation exams, increasing availability and convenience for students.
  • Telephony: We completed a major telephony upgrade moving from a centralized system to a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, eliminating outages, improving scalability and offering advanced features for better communication and collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Analysis: We initiated a stakeholder analysis project to understand our members’ safety challenges and serve them better.
  • Creative Sentencing: We delivered two creative sentencing projects. A course introducing the concept of the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) explaining roles and responsibilities at every organizational level and partnering with AMTA and MHSA we created a free on-demand situational awareness course for yardworkers and drivers.

Partnerships

Through innovative partnerships with the Government of Alberta, WCB, Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations (CFCSA), stakeholders and post-secondary institutions like NAIT, we are working to make advancements in safety in the Alberta construction industry.

Enhanced Focus on Safety

We are committed to becoming the premier safety association and certifying partner in the construction industry. Our goal is to facilitate compliance, shape safety culture, and improve business excellence. Our new strategic plan emphasizes four key areas: championing a culture of safety, engaging members and partners, optimizing programs and services, and bolstering organizational excellence. These guiding principles will direct us as we embark on our new five-year strategic journey, ensuring we remain focused, innovative, and responsive to our members’ needs.
