Regional Safety Committee Updates

The ACSA regularly interacts with employers and employees in construction through our eight Regional Safety Committees (RSCs), located in Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Lakeland (Lloydminster), Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Parkland (Red Deer), Wood Buffalo (Ft. McMurray).

They are comprised of representatives from construction and trades associations, along with worker members and are tasked with developing and delivering safety initiatives to spread awareness, provide training opportunities and raise funds within local communities.

  • Wood Buffalo Regional Safety Committee – The Wood Buffalo RSC (Fort McMurray) held a meeting this month, the first since the horrific fires occurred in May this year. The Committee was glad to be getting back together again and found support in others at the meeting who had also been through the unforgettable ordeal. Representatives from the ACSA, WCB and OHS also attended the meeting to provide updates on their latest initiatives and discuss ways in which they can collaborate with the RSC moving forward.Looking to the future the Wood Buffalo RSC is keen to re-engage with the local community and do what they can in way of fundraiser events, increasing safety awareness and providing necessary information and tools on construction safety.Their next meeting will be held on November 30, 2016 and they would welcome any new member of the safety community to come and participate in the discussion. Anyone working in safety in the construction industry is welcome to attend and meet with fellow workers, listen to the local issues and opportunities present in the safety community and contribute to the important work the Wood Buffalo RSC does.If you’re interested in learning more, please email WBRSC@youracsa.ca for further details.
